This design was the 3D development of my A2 work.
The model below is called The Pandemonium. This is due to its spontaneous noisy and chaotic nature. The scale is 1:35
For me the model making process was an addition to this buildings development. I did not want to build a fully finalised design pre-planned on paper. This model started with a small planned frame derived from 3D CAD work and orthographic projections. After I moved my plans to 3D I continued to add free strung roofs and other curves spontaneously. This allows me to experiment in three dimensions and create a product which to me is a lot more exiting. Fully planning a large 3D structure as complex as this can be hard so this build was more of an experiment which gave me some flexibility. I could adjust it and develop the design further ,off of paper which I think is much more productive.
The two roof segments are completely suspended by string. This limits the need for internal supports which would take up space and would be hard to add withing the multiple layers of roofing. The string completes the structure by adding a mesh or guide to where the limits of the building is; it gives it shape.
–Pandemonium-wild and noisy disorder or confusion; uproar.
